The new time for the night curfew will come into effect from April 29.
Earlier, the Punjab government on Monday ordered a weekend lockdown and extended the night curfew by two hours to deal with the rise in coronavirus cases. The state government also ordered the shops to be closed till 5 pm.
Weekend lockdown in Chandigarh
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh tweeted, “Due to the continuous and sharp increase in Kovid-19 cases in Punjab, the Cabinet has imposed lockdown from 6 pm to 5 am daily and weekend lockdown from 6 pm to 5 am Monday. Decided to implement it today. “
In the tweet, he further wrote, “I urge all of you to stay home and get out only if necessary. Your full cooperation is expected.”
Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, while addressing the media persons after the cabinet meeting here on Monday, said, “All shops will be open from Monday to Friday at 5 pm.”
He said that now the night curfew will be applicable daily from 6 pm to 5 am in the state. Currently, the curfew ban is in force every night from 8 am to 5 am.
