The 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR has a 1.0-liter K-Series dual jet, dual VVT engine, and a 1.2-liter engine. The hatchback comes with a CNG version and dual-tone exterior along with other changes.

Leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki today unveiled the 2022 facelift version of its popular WagonR. According to a Hindustan Times Auto report, the price of the new WagonR ranges from Rs 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 7.10 lakh for the top-spec trim. The hatchback, which was recently seen during a commercial shoot, will now come with an updated design inside and out.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR is powered by a 1.0-liter K-Series dual jet, dual VVT engine, and a 1.2-liter engine. It also offers the company’s S-CNG version with a 1.0-liter engine. The WagonR S-CNG price is Rs 6.81 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The updated WagonR comes with some notable new features like ISS in the petrol variant and hill hold assist on the AGS variant. In addition, the car now comes with 4 speakers with 17.78 cm (7″) SmartPlay Studio along with smartphone navigation, and the new vehicle also supports cloud-based services to provide a connected driving experience to the customers.
Several updated color options are also available on the car including two dual-tone colors, Gallant Red with black roof and Magma Gray with black roof. The new dual-tone interior, beige and dark gray melange fabric complements the exterior with a sportier exterior color scheme.

The company says that since its launch in 1999, WagonR has been continuously evolving and adapting to the changing preferences of the customers with its class-leading features, design, and performance. The company also retails the car through a monthly subscription service starting at Rs 12,000.
The current third-generation Maruti WagonR was launched in January 2019. It is currently available in 14 variants with two engines and two transmission options at ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 5.18 lakh to Rs 6.58 lakh. Maruti sells the third generation WagonR in 14 variants. These are offered with a 1.0-liter K10B petrol engine or a CNG variant with a 1.2-liter K12M petrol engine. The smaller engine can make 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.2-liter unit can make 82 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque.
Maruti Suzuki is reportedly dropping the WagonR EV project
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV was expected to be the company’s first battery-electric model in the Indian market. The company also unveiled a prototype of the WagonR EV at the Move Mobility Summit in September 2018. But since then this model has never debuted in the market. According to reports, Auto Car India has dropped plans for an electrified version of the WagonR.

The dual-tone body color options are the main attractions of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR exterior. The dual-tone colors of Gallant Red with Black Roof and Magma Gray with Black Roof are only available in ZXI + variants. 12,000 more. The top-end variant of the 2022 WagonR is fitted with black alloy wheels, unlike the previous model which only got the wheel cover even on the ZXI trims.
Maruti Suzuki claims that the color scheme of the fabric upholstery in the interior has been changed to ‘Beige, Dark Gray Melange’. In terms of features, the Hill-Start Assist function is now available with automatic versions. In addition, with dual airbags mandatory, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the single airbag versions of the Wagon R.
Maruti Suzuki has updated the new WagonR with 1.0-liter and 1.2-liter engines. These engines feature dual jet, dual VVT (variable valve timing), cooled EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), and ISS (idle start-stop) technologies to achieve better fuel efficiency and lower tailpipe pollution.

The 1.0-liter petrol engine is from the new Celerio. The output of this engine is 67 hp (1 hp less than before). In CNG mode, the engine produces 57 hp. Previously only the entry-level LXi trim was available as the CNG factory-fit option, now you can also buy the CNG version for the mid-spec VXi variant. The other engine in the new WagonR is the 1.2-liter engine found in the new Swift, Baleno, and Dzire models. This engine now produces 90hp (7hp more than before) output. The 1.2-liter unit is not currently available on the VXI trim. Limited to the most expensive ZXI + variant only.
The company claims that the 1.0-liter engine in the VXI AMT trim will deliver 25.19kpl of mileage. This is 16 percent more than before. The company claims that the CNG versions will get 34.05 km / h mileage (5 percent more than before). The 1.2-liter petrol has a mileage of 24.43kpl on the ZXI AMT and ZXI + AMT trims. This is 19 percent more than the previous model.
