As for the pitch. It’s a hot day, so tricky for the players. They will need to be well hydrated, says Russel Arnold during the pitch report. It’s a hard pitch, that will stay good for the batters reckons Russel. So maybe we’re not going to see the spinners have it all their own way like last evening.
The Dambulla Giants have won the toss and will bat first. Giants captain Dasun Shanaka says he’s happy with what looks like a very good wicket, and think they have a “proper” bowling unit to defend later on.
Kings skipper Thisara Perera says he’s not too fussed about the toss, and is happy to chase.
Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the Lanka Premier League. The first of today’s double-headers sees the Jaffna Kings looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat to the Galle Gladiators. The Kings take on a dangerous looking Dambulla Giants side, who recorded a resounding win over the Kandy Warriors in their opening game yesterday.
Niroshan Dickwella in particular had looked in scintillating form for the Giants, though the Kings will know there’s a lot more to them than that first game showed – especially with the world’s best T20 bowler, Wanindu Hasaranga, in their ranks.
Whichever way you look at it, this game promises to be a cracker. Toss and team news should be here in a bit.
