Pakistan v West Indies

5.30pm West Indies have won the toss and they will bowl first. “We want to have a look at the conditions first,” Nicholas Pooran says. “We have got a few youngsters and hopefully we can create something special starting from tonight. “

Celine: “If Chris Gayle reads your comment, Hemant, he would say: Schrödinger’s cat is alive … and very pissed off! LOL”

Ayush Garg: “I guess pakistan are missing a trick here. They should have rested babar, rizwan and shaheen. Their workload is heaps dangerous imo. “

Muhammad Yousuf: “I feel myself unlucky a bit, When I was in Pakistan, Cricket was happening in UAE, all PSL Matches and Pakistan’s series, When I shifted here in UAE, PSL and all home series are back in Pakistan. 🙁 But I am happy for the return of international cricket in Pakistan”

Mustafa Moudi: “Fun Fact: On this day 55 Years Ago: Clive Lloyd made his Debut against India after being called up on the final hour before the match (Credit: Cricinfo OTD). Interestingly, he mentioned about the same earlier this year in his open letter to the WI Youngsters that toured to another Asian Country – Bangladesh. That motivation worked as WI won the Test Series 2-0 !!”

5.20pm While we wait for the toss, here’s Saurabh Somani’s preview, which details what we can expect today. Have a read.

Kapil: “Hemant, your description of Gayle’s absence is hilarious!” — I went with that because, as Osman Samiuddin wrote here, Chris Gayle is half-retired.

Celine: “Schrödinger’s version LOL. Entropy and Life. *sigh* Chris Gayle!”

Muhammad Haleem: “A warm welcome to Nicholas Pooran and his team to Karachi. don’t forget Karachi’s SPECIAL DISH “KARACHI STUDENTS BIRYANI” “

5.10pm West Indies, though, are without their regular white-ball captain Kieron Pollard, who failed to recover from a hamstring injury he picked up at the T20 World Cup. In his absence, Nicholas Pooran will lead the side in T20Is. They were dealt another blow a couple of days ago when Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase and Kyle Mayers tested positive for Covid-19. Andre Russell, meanwhile, is in Australia, playing the Big Bash League. From the side that took part in the T20 World Cup, Dwayne Bravo has retired, while Chris Gayle has opted for Schrödinger’s version of it. So this is a very different looking West Indies side to the one that played in the World Cup.

NAUMAN: “Good Morning. Was waiting eagerly to see the coverage start here, was hoping mine to be the first comment of the series and the new home season.” — You underestimated our feedbackers grossly. I have already got around 50 comments.

Chicken McGee: “Awesome and awesome and awesome. ” — For a moment, I thought your username was Chicken McGhee.

Maqbool Ahmad: “Yes Yes, its back in Pakistan. “

Hidayat Ullah: “Hello and Good Evening Everyone. Welcome to Pakistan and many many thanks to West Indies for coming to Pakistan and winning the hearts of all the Pakistani Especially Cricket Lovers. “

Muhammad Yousuf: “Hello from Yousuf! Can’t wait to see this contest full of excitement.Just came here to see the live coverage by ESPN Cricinfo best of luck to both teams”

5.00pm Hello, hello! International cricket is back in Pakistan once again. The last time a team visited Pakistan was in September but minutes before the first ODI, New Zealand’s tour was called off. A few days later, England too withdrew from their tour of the country. Then the whole attention was diverted to the T20 World Cup and now finally, we have West Indies playing in Pakistan. I am Hemant Brar and will soon be joined by Shashank Kishore as we bring you all the action from the first T20I in Karachi.
