Manchester United are prepared to swoop for Barcelona forward Memphis Depay after parting ways with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo was recently released by the Red Devils and they are now expected to pursue a replacement during the next transfer window.
With the Glazers looking to sell the club, they may prefer a low-cost replacement. Depay appears the top player on their radar.
The Dutchman will enter the final six months of his Blaugrana deal in January and the Spanish club are quite clear that they want to offload him.
According to Sport, the Catalan giants are willing to let him leave on a free transfer, provided the player does not ask for a compensation.
United are one of the clubs capable of meeting his wage demands as well as signing-on fee. The deal could be finalised after the World Cup.
Depay is presently with the Netherlands at the tournament in Qatar. The Dutch are much fancied to reach the last eight at least.
