HAMILTON: The Indian women’s cricket team won the World Cup League match against Bangladesh by 110 runs.

The Women’s World Cup cricket tournament is being held in New Zealand. In these tournaments, in which 8 teams participate, each team must face the other team once. The teams that finish in the top 4 in terms of points at the end of the league matches will qualify for the semifinals. The Indian team is in 4th place with 2 wins and 3 defeats in 5 matches. The Indian team clashed with Bangladesh today (March 22) in a situation where they have to win the remaining 2 matches.

The Indian women’s team won the toss and elected to bat first in the league match at Hamilton. Smriti Mandana and Shabali Verma started the pair. After getting off to a somewhat good start, Mandana (30), Shabali (42) and Mithali Raj (0) were the next to miss. Yastika Patiya was the only batsman to score a fifty. Harmanpreet Kaur (14) was run out. Richa Ghosh (26) and Rana (27) gave the Indian women a 229 for 7 in 50 overs. Pooja (30) and Goswami (2) were unbeaten.

For Bangladesh, Ritu Moni took 3 wickets, Nahida Akhtar 2 wickets and Alam 1 wicket. Then the Bangladesh team started with a target of 230 runs. The Bangladesh team took consecutive wickets in the stunning bowling of the Indian players. In the end, Bangladesh were all out for 119 at the end of 40.3 overs. Rana was the highest wicket-taker for India with 4 wickets. With this victory, the Indian team advanced to 3rd place in the standings. India will take on South Africa in their last league match on March 27.
